FUGA is looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to play a fundamental role in stimulating a data-driven culture by providing data engineering services to various teams and stakeholders. We believe that Data Services is a key organisational function required to improve decision-making processes, reduce waste and improve our operational and business performance.

Reporting directly to the head of data engineering, you will:

  • Create and maintain software processes and pipelines to collect, transform, persist, verify and make accessible a wide array of structured and unstructured data types from numerous sources

  • Write software components to interface with APIs, databases, cloud services, message brokers, filesystems and data processing infrastructure.

  • Take ownership of projects and their entire life cycles including requirements development, coding, software versioning, testing, deployment, troubleshooting and bug fixing, process and performance monitoring, documentation, and of course also performance improvements.

  • Perform analysis of processing results and make improvements

  • Identify and solve data engineering problems directly related to the data needs of teams and stakeholders


A successful applicant for this role will have:

  • A Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Strong Python skills (with a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience)

  • Experience with Python libraries for data manipulation and visualisation

  • Good skills in parsing, transforming and cleaning structured and unstructured data

  • Experience working with and querying relational and non-relational databases

  • The ability to independently execute projects

  • Very good communication skills (for interfacing with individuals, teams and stakeholders) and be fluent in English

Nice to haves

  • Prior experience in the music industry is a big plus

  • Familiarity with data warehousing

  • Data science background

  • Google Cloud Services

  • Containerization practices using Docker and Kubernetes
