What you’ll be working on?

We are in the process of building a state-of-the-art Neighbouring Rights platform and are looking for a Technical Lead (Java) to manage the software development life cycle, from planning and prioritizing to testing and release with an external offshore team.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, technical lead responsibilities include gathering system and user requirements, building Java modules and testing features before release. If you have hands-on experience developing software with agile and DevOps methodologies we’d like to meet you.

What are we building?

Neighbouring Rights give record labels and performing artists the opportunity to earn ongoing royalties for the public performance of their music in multiple uses such as TV and radio broadcasts. We already provide a manual service to manage this for our clients as global differences make it complex for them to maximise the income they are owed.

The new platform will power our Neighbouring Rights business providing operational efficiency and market-leading client service. The system will combine client and recordings management, workflow processes including interaction with global copyright societies, and a client portal for transparency on repertoire and income. It will be a separate product that will also connect to our core platforms, including a royalty management system, with the goal of maximising our impact in this growth area of the music industry.

What does the job look like?

You are going to be involved in defining the technical vision for Neighbouring Rights and plan its technical roadmap by collaborating with the Chief Architect and Head of Digital Supply Chain Engineering. You will also work with the dev teams and product manager to ideate solutions, schedule product releases, prioritise, assign + execute tasks through the SLDC. The job also involves designing the database architecture and making sure the platform is secure and up-to-date. Apart from that, your role also involves hands-on writing well designed and efficient code, review, test and debugging team members' code as well. Last but not least, you'll be documenting the development phases.
